fib International PhD Symposium

16th edition of the fib International PhD Symposium in Civil Engineering

Vienna, Austria

9-11 September 2026

Authors Information

All manuscripts submitted will be peer-reviewed and must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All manuscripts are carefully evaluated through a blinded peer review process.

Authors of selected research papers will be invited to submit their extended version for publication in the journal ce/papers; The online collection for conference papers in civil engineering on the platform WileyOnlineLibrary via mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cepa, using the same number that they have been assigned when submitting the abstract.

Accepted papers will be published in Wiley’s subscription hybrid journal ce/papers with open access option. All accepted conference papers will be freely accessible with the start of the conference.

Two papers can be submitted for each registration.

Additional papers will be charged for the publishing costs for each additional one – 200€ for two additional papers.

Open Access, Licensing & Copyright

The journal ce/papers is a hybrid Open Access journal published by Ernst & Sohn. This means that it is financed proportionally via a subscription model as well as via revenues from open access publications. ce/papers is available free of charge to most academic institutions under the DEAL initiative in Germany and similar transformational agreements in Austria and many other countries around the world (www.wiley.com).

In addition, we will make all contributions to the conference edition of ce/papers freely available for one year after publication. This ensures access to the conference contributions worldwide, independent from the above‑mentioned agreements.

No costs are involved for either the submitting author or the conference organizer in the publication of the contributions in ce/papers.

When publishing in ce/papers, authors also have the option of releasing their contributions for Open Access. We make this optional offer to the corresponding author by e-mail from cs-author@wiley.com in the course of obtaining the necessary rights for publication (Wiley Authors Licensing Service [WALS]).

The transformational agreements mentioned above usually cover Open Access fees and do not have to be paid by the authors (authorservices.wiley.com).

Authors only incur real costs if they wish to publish an Open Access work and no such transformational agreement exists for the author’s country of origin, or if none of the authors work at an institution covered by the agreement. In these cases, authors can find out in advance about the APCs (Article Publication Charges) (authorservices.wiley.com) that will be charged.

ce/papers: articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License. The CC-BY license permits commercial and non-commercial re-use of an open-access article, as long as the author is properly attributed. To find out what licenses JOURNAL offers, please consult the Author Compliance Tool (authorservices.wiley.com). For more information about the licenses offered by this journal, please visit the  Wiley Author Services (authorservices.wiley.com).

Web of Science – Indexing

The fib PhD Symposium Proceedings will in parallel to the publication in ce/papers be submitted by the publisher Ernst & Sohn to Clarivate (Web of Science) for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings Citation Index. We, therefore, request authors to support us in this process by means of high-quality contributions.
